The Interfraternity Council IFC is the governing and representative body for five national and international fraternities. The council is as a sounding board between member organizations and serves as a place to discuss questions of mutual interest and devise common solutions.

Additionally, IFC meetings function as a common meeting ground to freely exchange ideas and perpetuate the growth of all member fraternities. The organizations place a significant emphasis on scholarship, civic engagement, leadership, and personal development.

USF requires all general fraternities and sororities to be affiliated with a governing council under the umbrella of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and with a larger, nationally-based organization that provides additional supervision, guidance, and programming on a wide variety of topics.
